1972 Missouri Secretary of State election

The 1972 Missouri Secretary of State election was held on 7 November 1972 in order to elect the secretary of state of Missouri. Democratic nominee and incumbent secretary of state James Kirkpatrick defeated Republican nominee Harold Kuehle.[1]

On election day, 7 November 1972, Democratic nominee James Kirkpatrick won re-election by a margin of 321,464 votes against his opponent Republican nominee Harold Kuehle, thereby retaining Democratic control over the office of secretary of state. Kirkpatrick was sworn in for his third term on 8 January 1973.[2]
