Karlsruher SC, FC Hansa Rostock and MSV Duisburg were promoted to the Bundesliga. Rot-Weiss Essen, SpVgg Unterhaching, SV Wacker Burghausen and Eintracht Braunschweig were relegated to the Regionalliga.
