History

edit

Alpha Pi Delta was founded in Dallas, Texas on June 28, 2010, by several college women who were lesbians of color.[2][3] Its founders are called the "Founding Crystals" and include Antoinette McIntosh and Christian Jones.[4][1] Jones (now Roberson) became its first International Grand 1st Anti-Basileus.[5]

The purpose of the sorority was "to organize a lesbian sorority to promote the cause of services and education by encouraging the highest standards through cultural and educational programs, promoting community service within our communities; fostering the sorority's network, growth, and sisterly love".[6]

The sorority received its IRS nonprofit tax ruling in 2014.[1] Alpha Pi Delta's main address is 4336 Pago Pago Lane #5202 in Fort Worth, Texas.[1]
