The Chongqing University of Technology (CQUT) is a municipal public university in Chongqing, China. It is affiliated with the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission.

The university was founded as Shiji Public School on 18 September 1940 by ordnance expert Lee Chenggan .[2] As of 2023, the Best Chinese Universities Ranking, also known as the "Shanghai Ranking", placed the university 5th in Chongqing.[3]

In 2022, Chongqing University of Technology was ranked in the top 2000 universities in the world by several international rankings including the U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities Ranking, the URAP World Ranking - University Ranking by Academic Performance and the Scimago Institutions Rankings.[5][6][7]

It has buildings with green tiles which were the site of Crown Corps of Military Council of National Government and headquarters of the 8th theater.[citation needed] Now they are key cultural relics preservation sites in Chongqing City. Most of the old campus is being destroyed and torn down.[9] Trees are being removed and sent to the new campus while buildings are being torn down. Most faculty and almost all students are now located on the main campus.
