Proibidão, literally translating to "strongly prohibited," refers to songs whose airplay is legally prohibited in Brazil due to alleged crime apology and promotion of drugs and arms usage. Cidinho and Doca are known for their rendition of "Rap das Armas" (English: Rap of Weapons), a 1990s song originally by Junior e Leonardo.
Rap das Armas gained popularity among European electronic DJs who began experimenting with Brazilian funk remixes throughout the 2000s, charting in Sweden and the Netherlands.[1]
