Shahadat Hossain (Bengali: শাহাদাত হোসেন), also known as Shaadat Hossain, is a Bangladeshi politician and doctor. He is the current Mayor of Chittagong.[1][2] He was the former president of Chattogram Metropolitan unit of Bangladesh Nationalist Party.[3][4]

Early life and education
editDr. Shahadat Hossain completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery - MBBS Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency Program from Chittagong Medical College.[5]
In addition to his political experiences, Dr. Shahadat Hossain is also a successful physician. He is the Managing Director of Treatment Hospital near Prabartak Cirle.[6] All throughout the Covid pandemic, he had been providing free telemedicine services to patients through this Facebook page.[7]
Political career
editShahadat Hossain started his political journey with student politics and was the founding president of the Chittagong Medical College unit of the Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chatra Dal.[5] Apart from this, he served as the general secretary and later president of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party of Chattogram Metropolitan unit.[8][9] Besides, he has been playing an important role in the ongoing movement led by BNP in the fight to bring back democracy in Bangladesh.[10]
