Aeon Gods is a German symphonic power metal band formed in 2022.[1] The band's aim is to explore the world of Babylonian mythology and ancient epics through their music. The band quickly attracted attention with its epic soundscapes and visuals. The band's first full-length album, King of Gods, was released on 22 November 2024 and features the battles of the ancient gods and episodes of the Babylonian creation myth. The album was mixed and mastered by Sebastian 'Seeb' Levermann, while the cover artwork was designed by Peter Sallai.[1] In 2024, the band signed to Scarlet Records.[2] The band's music has a symphonic power metal style, characterised by epic choruses, powerful drums and grandiose instrumentation. Aeon Gods' music combines Babylonian and Mesopotamian mythological elements with modern metal elements to create unique melodies.

Early publications

edit

Aeon Gods released their first single, "The Beginning", in 2023, based on the ancient Babylonian creation story Enuma Elish. This was followed by the single "Ereshkigal", which tells the story of the goddess of the underworld. After these, they didn't stop, and released the song called "Aeon Gods".[3] The first two songs depict the relationships and conflicts between the characters in the mythology, setting the stage for the band's future works, such as their first studio album.

Debut album: King of Gods

edit

King of Gods was released on 22 November 2024[4], and focuses on the conflicts between the Babylonian gods such as Marduk and Tiamat. The main themes of the album include the battle between the ancient gods and the reinterpretation of the mythological worldview. Songs on the album include "Sun-god", "Babylon Burning", and "Monsters of Tiamat", all based on Babylonian mythology. With this album, they are mixing symphonic metal elements and powerful melodies similar to Helloween and HammerFall[5]. This album also includes the three-part sequence "The Flood". It is hailed as one of the band's most ambitious compositions. The epic sequence tells a mythological story of the Great Flood, reflecting on the fundamental conflicts in the relationship between humanity and the gods.[6]
