Muhammed Abdul Hakkim Azhari (also known as MAH Al Kandi) د. محمد عبد الحكيم الكاندي is a Kerala scholar, educationalist and businessperson, and the Director of the Jamia Markaz. He is the General Secretary of the Samastha kerala Sunni Yuvjan Sangham SYS.and the Founder and Director of Jamia Madeenathunnoor, Poonoor.

Early life and education

Abdul Hakim Azhari is the son of Islamic scholar Kanthapuram A. P. Aboobacker Musliyar.[1] He studied at the Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University, in Bihar and the Markazu Saqafathi Sunniyya in Kerala.[1][2]

Career

Azhari has established educational institutions in various parts of Kozhikode. In 2001, he established Jamia Madeenathunnoor in Poonoor, Kozhikode.[3][4] His organisation Sunni Yuvajana Sangam said in 2015 that they planned to open a hundred schools in Uttar Pradesh with a focus on primary education.[5] Azhari is the rector of Markazu Saqafathi Sunniyya, an Islamic institute in Kerala.[6][7] He speaks on Islam, education, democracy and human rights.[8][9][10][11] He is also associated with Sunni Students Federation.[12][13]

Azhari is the managing director of Markaz Knowledge City, a residential and educational hub near Kozhikode city.[14] He supervised the establishment of Alif Global school.[15] He said in a conference that "Our duty is to spread this message of Islam to save humanity from darkness."[16]
