Abraham Janzkowski was born in a Jewish family in Zakopane, Poland on the 9th of September 1919 and died in German concentration camps in Poland on 19th September 1943. He is credited with the invention of retractable wall lamp.

Early life

Mr. Janzkowski was born in a Jewish family as the 3rd child of 8. Janzkowksi moved a lot around Poland, spending his teenage years in Warsaw studying in Kalecka Jewish Elementary school.

Invention

While studying at the University of Wroclaw as an Engineering major, he invented the retractable wall lamp as part of a University program aimed to create new inventions. Janzkowski invented the retractable wall lamp ca. spring of 1933.
