Biography

edit

Quraishi was born in New Jersey and has since been a lifelong resident of Fort Lee, NJ.[4] He attended Fort Lee High School where he was a varsity bowling athlete and represented his peers as the president of the student government.[5][6][3] While in his senior year, he filed a petition to run for the local Board of Education, making him the youngest candidate in the Board's history.[1]

After graduating from Fort Lee High School in 2014, Quraishi attended the New York Institute of Technology pursuing an accelerated (BS/DO) medical program.[4] While at college, he was elected to the Fort Lee Board of Education and was sworn into office January 5, 2016.[7]

During his tenure, the Fort Lee School District implemented a 1:1 Chromebook initiative for students in grades 7–12, increased the number of devices provided for staff, and expanded course offerings at the high school to include classes such as robotics, Mandarin Chinese, Korean, forensics, and landscape and floral design, among others.[8][9] Most notably, however, the board cut the ribbon on a new addition to Lewis F. Cole Middle School and oversaw the construction of the new Lewis F. Cole Intermediate School.[10][11]

Quraishi resigned in August 2016, with one year remaining in his three-year term, to complete a degree in Economics at The American University in Washington, DC.[3]

The following year, he developed Reality with Ammad Quraishi, an American news satire show on ATV, which was later available on Amazon Prime Video.[12][13] The show ran until 2018, when he transitioned into automotive journalism with bylines at DriveTribe and TopSpeed.[14][15]
