Draft:Association of Motion Picture Sound (AMPS)

The Association of Motion Picture Sound (AMPS)[1] is a craft guild with almost 600 members. AMPS aims to represent the best in UK Film, Television and Game sound, though members are worldwide. Members include Production Sound Mixers, Sound Designers, Supervising Sound Editors, Sound Editors, Re-recording Mixers, Music Mixers and Editors, First Assistant Sound (Boom Operators), Second Assistant Sound, Foley Artists, and many more.

AMPS was founded in 1989, and is chiefly based in the UK. It was aimed from the outset to be a space where members could exchange information, discuss workflow and solve problems, as well as to help members keep up to date with the ever-changing technology.

Membership is tiered, and Full Members are allowed to use the suffix “AMPS” after their name. Categories range from Student to Full and include Retired members so as to allow membership at all stages of a career.
