Collegiate Model United Nations Society was initially a small group of college students in the city of Chennai who wanted to collectively promote Model United Nations Conferences in college campuses as well as high schools. The society was founded around mid-April of 2024 by Shaphan Jezreel Louie, a Student of Law.
The society quickly grew as experienced delegates in circuit welcomed this idea and they were able to collaborate with the School of Law, University of Mysore within few months of their founding to host a Model UN Conference.
The society is also appreciated by few as the society carefully attempts to provide education to girls deprived of education in Afghanistan due to the current political scenario.
The Society also simulates various other international summits, meetings and conferences than sticking on to conventional MUNs
So far, CMUN has 3 International Conferences simulating the Foreign Ministers Meet, Group of 77 and International Hydrography Organization
On a significant note, The International Model United Nations Conference on Environmental Sustainability hosted by them is a registered and listed event of United Nations Environment Programme's World Environment Day Celebrations 2024
TATA's title sponsorship is awaited for this event.
