Daiki Tomiyasu (冨安 大貴, Tomiyasu Daiki, born May 15, 1980 in Saitama Prefecture, Japan[1]) is a Japanese Animation Director associated with OLM.[1] As of 2024, he is a member of the company's creative department.[1] He is also a current member of the Director Guild of Japan.[1] He is best known for his work on the Pokémon Anime of which he is serving as the Executive Director of, succeeding Kunihiko Yuyama.[2][3]
Career
editAfter completing his graduate school studies at the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Waseda University, he joined OLM initially as a producer.[1] His first work related to the Pokémon Anime was as a producer on Pokémon: Giratina & the Sky Warrior.[4] Later, he decided to switch to directing and worked on the Inazuma Eleven Anime.[1] He directed and storyboarded the 4th episode of Pokémon Origins.[4] He then joined the Pokémon TV Series as a storyboard artist and episode director during the XY Series.[4] Parallelly, he directed the educational anime series Pikaia!, which was produced by NHK Educational.[4]
He was the Assistant Director for the XY&Z Season.[4] He served as the director for Pokémon Generations.[5] He was the director for the Pokémon Sun and Moon Anime.[6] He was then promoted to the position of Executive Director for Pokémon Journeys, succeeding Kunihiko Yuyama.[2] He was then credited as the Creative Director for Pokémon Horizons for the first 45 episodes before resuming his position as the Executive Director from the 46th episode onwards.[7]
