Domain Name Transfers are the process of transferring a domain name away from one registrar to another.[1] For a domain name transfer to be completed both the transferor registrar and the transferee registrar must approve the transfer. For a domain name to be transferrable from one registrar to another the person inititing the transfer must first disable the Registrar-Lock at the current registrar. [2] The person initiating the transfer must also request an authorization code from the transferee registrar and provide this authorization code to the transferor registrar.[1] A domain name is ready to be transferred from one registrar to another after the Registrar-Lock has been disabled and the transferee registrar has been provided with the authorization code for the domain name. The person wanting to transfer the domain name can now initiate the transfer request with the transferee registrar.[3]
A newly registered domain name will not be eligible for transfer away from the current registrar until 60 days have passed from the date of registration have elapsed.[2]
