The European Biotechnology Thematic Network Association (EBTNA) is a biotechnology association that has been presenting both academic and industrial projects since 1996. Biotechnology is an innovative science that spans many different sectors such as biology, agriculture, veterinary medicine, medicine and bioengineering, and is related to many industrial activities. Therefore, biotechnology can bring many benefits to humankind. However, ethical issues need to be taken into account as well as public education to make the public aware of the positive and negative aspects of biotechnology. The European Biotechnology Association organizes many international events that serve this purpose.
The association carries out its activities in 47 countries, from Europe to the Near East, from Pacific Asia to Latin-America, through a coordinator system. First of all, the aim of EBTNA is to show that biotechnology is an interdisciplinary branch of science by combining life, nature and health sciences, which are the starting point of biotechnology, with technology; to prepare projects together by bringing together both scientific and academic studies and industry; to strive to contribute to this field by training experts in the field of biotechnology with undergraduate and graduate programs.
Objectives of the Association
edita. Implement, advise or manage programs to assess knowledge and skills in the sciences with an emphasis on biotechnology
b. Undertake programs related to education and training, especially those with innovative approaches
c. To take part as a consultant or evaluator in programs related to Education and Training
d. Provide a certificate of achievement when assessments are carried out under appropriate conditions
e. Cooperation with other associations and professional organizations
f. Taking biotechnology education beyond borders
The members of the association have the opportunity to collaborate with biotechnology groups and different disciplines worldwide through the Thematic Network project. It intends to create a network of universities for students to analyze and discuss. Many scientific networks have also been created for the human sciences.
Events
editWith the meetings they organize every year, they bring together academics and industry in the field of biotechnology and pave the way for new horizons for those who want to work in this field. EBTNA, which tries to be a pioneer in every subject, first organized the European Biotechnology Congress[1] in Istanbul in 2011 under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey and Tübitak, with the participation of approximately 1000 people. Eurobiotech2012 Agricultural Symposium was organized in Kayseri with the participation of many academicians from Europe and Turkey, and Biotechnology days were organized in Valencia/Spain in the following months. The events organized in the following years are as follows;
European Biotechnology Congress 2011 Istanbul, Türkiye
