Draft:Irish Catholic the movie

Irish Catholic is an experimental, dark musical comedy written, directed, photographed, produced, and music composed by Katie Madonna Lee. It is a tribute to Sinead O'Connor. Set in the aftermath of the 1992 Sinead O'Connor SNL event, Shavon, the black sheep of her large Catholic family, attempts to navigate her way in life after outing the beloved community priest for molesting her brother. A Sinead O'Connor look-alike plays the Holy Spirit, comforting Shavon in her black sheep status.

The film was written as a protest to modern-day filmmaking. Inspired by Lars Von Tier's Dogville, it was filmed on a stage with cardboard sets and doubled cast actors.

The inspiration for the film came out of Lee's childhood friends being abused and how the Catholic community enabled the abuse and blamed the victims.

The film won Best of the Fest at the South Texas Underground Film Festival in 2023.
