Draft:Jak Mallmann Showell

Jak P. Mallmann Showell is a historian and author of nearly thirty books on the German navy, mostly its U-boat operations.[1] The U.S. Naval Institute considers him a leading authority.[2] Some of his books were not well received; "The U-Boat Century: German Submarine Warfare, 1906–2006" was most notably criticized for, "repeated attempts to rewrite German history ... well outside universally accepted facts."[3][4] Showell's father was a senior diesel mechanic of U-377, which sank in 1944.[4]
