In 1868 Masicot served in the state constitutional convention and was elected recorder for the third district.[4] He was the sheriff of the Orleans Parish from 1869 until 1870.

Masicot served in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1868 until 1872 and in the Louisiana State Senate from 1872 until 1876,[2] as a Republican.[5]
