Lee Bullen (born Lee Daniel Bullen on 8 October 1973 in Woking) is an English author..[1] screenwriter, and journalist based in the Canary Islands, Spain. In a career spanning over 20 years, Bullen has written numerous books and screenplays[2], and regularly contributes articles to many leading publications in the UK and US, including Daily Mirror[3], The Sun, Newsweek, and Daily Mail[4].
Career
editRaised in Woking in Surrey, Bullen studied art and design at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham, and later worked an illustrator[5]. Following his move to Tenerife in 2001, he transitioned into journalism and went on to contribute articles for major publications in the US and UK[6].
During the early 2010s, Bullen developed two sitcom pilots, 'Falling Stars' and 'New Ageing', for the UK production company The Comedy Unit.
Bullen wrote his first book 'Beset: The Pursuit of Happiness in Times of Crisis'[7] in 2013. Based on his experiences of raising an autistic child during the Global Financial Crisis (GFC), the memoir became a bestseller on Amazon[8].
In 2014, Bullen wrote the fictional romantic comedy novel 'Someone Like You', also a number one hit in its category on Amazon[9].
In 2021, Bullen was interviewed by Jonnie Irwin on an episode of 'A Place in the Sun' to talk about Tenerife as an inspiration for his writing[10]
Bullen wrote the biopic 'Always and Forever: The Rod Temperton Story' about British songwriter Rod Temperton in 2022[11]
He also produced and directed a documentary on Temperton called 'The Invisible Man'[12] for his eponymous YouTube channel.
In 2024, Bullen appeared on the BBC Radio Humberside show 'The Grimsby Fish Filleter Who Wrote Thriller'[13] about Temperton's life and career.
Bullen also released his humorous compilation 'Anthology: A Collection of Short Stories & Poems' on Amazon in 2024.
Personal life
editBullen was married from 2003 to 2010, and has a daughter and an autistic son. Due to the "unique bond" with his son, autism is often a theme in many of his works.
