Lukas & Frank is a DJ and live act duo founded in late 2024. Lukas performs live saxophone and Frank plays live cello within their Afro house and Melodic house DJ sets. The duo is known for combining classical live instrumentation with contemporary electronic club music.
History
[edit]Lukas and Frank are musicians from contrasting artistic backgrounds. Lukas originally studied clarinet within a classical conservatory setting before transitioning to saxophone and pursuing a career as a DJ. Frank grew up with classical music and later moved into rock and techno, with the cello as his primary instrument.
The duo formed from an unplanned joint performance in late 2024, when both were independently booked for the same event. Their improvised combination of saxophone and cello over Afro and Melodic House rhythms received an immediate response from the audience. Lukas & Frank have since performed and released music together.
Music and style
[edit]Their artistic concept centres on the integration of live instrumentation with electronic production. Frank uses the cello as both a melodic and rhythmic element, while Lukas enriches the emotional depth of their sets with the saxophone. Both instruments are performed live within the DJ sets. Their repertoire includes original productions as well as reinterpretations of well-known tracks in the Afro House and Melodic House genres.
In 2025, the duo released their ongoing Sax & Cello mix series on YouTube, spanning multiple volumes and featuring blends of Afro House, Deep House, Organic House and Melodic Techno.[1]

[edit]- Back to Black (Afro Edit) (2024) – featuring Yann Hendriksen and Vescu. Reached the Spotify Top 50 in 11 countries including Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Turkey, Denmark, Italy, Portugal, Greece and Sweden.[2][3]
- Promiscuous (Afro Edit) (2026) – released on All Ways Dance. Reached the Top 10 of the Beatport Afro House charts.[4][5]

[edit]Lukas & Frank operate their own international event series under the name House of Lukas & Frank (HOLF). Events have taken place in Berlin, London, Paris, Istanbul, Sofia, Frankfurt am Main and Düsseldorf.

The Djakarta Warehouse Project (DWP) is one of Asia's largest music festivals, drawing approximately 90,000 attendees annually. Lukas & Frank performed at the 2025 edition (12–14 December 2025), alongside Calvin Harris, Steve Angello, Charlotte de Witte, Fisher and Skrillex.[6]

[edit]As of 2025, Lukas & Frank have over 1.1 million monthly listeners on Spotify,[7] over 224,000 followers on Instagram,[8] over 160,000 followers on TikTok and over 45,000 subscribers on YouTube with more than one million views.[9]
