Photopea (/ˈftəˈp/ FOH-tə-PEE) is a web-based photo and graphics editor. It is used for image editing, making illustrations, web design or converting between different image formats. Photopea is advertising-supported software. It is compatible with all modern web browsers, including Opera, Edge, Chrome, and Firefox.[5] The app is compatible with raster and vector graphics, such as Photoshop's PSD as well as JPEG, PNG, DNG, GIF, SVG, PDF and other image file formats. While browser-based, Photopea stores all files locally, and does not upload any data to a server.[6]

Features

edit

Photopea has various image editing tools including spot healing, a clone stamp healing brush, and a patch tool. The software supports layers, layer masks, channels, selections, paths, smart objects, layer styles, text layers, filters and vector shapes.[7]

Reception

edit

Photopea has received positive coverage due to its similarities to Adobe Photoshop in design and workflow, making it an easier program for those trained in Photoshop to use, compared to other free raster image editors such as GIMP.[8]

Games

edit

The Photopea website also contains several "PeaGames", simple browser games developed by the creator of Photopea.

The games include:

  • Moonsters, a take on the Match-3 game genre.
  • Dino Hunt 2, a simple 3D game in which the user attempts to kill a set number of dinosaurs before the dinosaur(s) can kill them.
  • Connection, a line puzzle game.
  • Tiny Moonsters, a game where the objective is to slice different shapes apart without coming into contact with any of the bouncing "Moonsters".
  • The Big Fish, a game where the user has to use their mouse cursor to move a fish around, "eating" ones smaller than theirs and avoiding being eaten by those larger than theirs.
  • Crazy Bugs, a game where the user has to untangle a set of flying insects.
  • Loud Rider, a 2D motorcycle game where the user has to navigate a course containing various obstacles including jumps, drops, and loops.
  • Cola Factory, a pipes puzzle game.
