Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies.

Prosper Mackenzie Nude is a Ghanaian geologist and full professor at the University of Ghana. He works in the Department of Earth Science, where he lectures and conducts research in geology especially in petrology, mineral exploration, and applied geochemistry. Prior to joining the University of Ghana in 2000, he was an Assistant Research Officer at Ghana’s Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).
Early Life and Education
editProsper NUDE was born in Klefe-Dome, a small village in Ho Municipality of the Volta region in Ghana. He attended Kpedze Secondary School and later Bishop Herman College where he obtained General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced level. He developed an interest in geology during his secondary school years after noticing rock outcrops near his school.
NUDE was awarded a BSc in Geology in 1992 and an MPhil in Geology by 1998 and completed his PhD degree in Petrology and Geochemistry in 2006 all from the University of Ghana. In 2003, he flew to the United states as a Visiting Non PhD student as part of his research work on carbonatite and nepheline syenite gneiss in the Dahomeyide suture zone in southeastern Ghana. Prosper NUDE's research work at the Utah State University was supervised by Prof. John Shervais and his BIHECO senior and Professor, Kojopa Attoh.
Professional Career
editNUDE was appointed lecturer at the University of Ghana in 2000. Three years after defending his PhD thesis, he was promoted to the academic rank of senior lecturer. In April 2012, he became associate Professor of Geology with specialization in Petrology and Geochemistry. Ten months prior to this promotion, he began a five year tenure as the head of the department of Earth Science[1]. Before starting his career in academia, he worked as an Assistant Research officer for the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in Ghana as an Assistant Research Officer from 1993 to 1996. With his knowledge of geology, Prosper NUDE was employed by prominent international mining companies and private organizations, where he worked in mineral exploration until he was appointed at the University of Ghana in 2000. He has conducted fieldwork on 3 continents from USA to Australia, and to Africa, but the West Africa craton is where much of his work takes place.
Academic Research Work
editNUDE's research focuses on the Precambrian geology and metallogeny of the Pan African Belt and the Birimian in West Africa. He is also involved in the geochemical exploration of valuable minerals, as well as the study of mine waste and rock-water interactions. He has published in geoscience, contributing journal articles, technical reports, expert reviews, and conference papers. Since 1998, he has worked as a consulting geoscientist, providing expertise to both public and private sectors in areas such as applied research, development, and mineral exploration. From 2013 to 2016, he served as an Expert Witness and Expert Reviewer for the Government of Ghana in mineral arbitration cases. In addition to his research and consulting work, he has supervised graduate students and continues to mentor aspiring geologists.
Professional Associations
editHe is a Fellow of the Ghana Institute of Geoscientists[2] and the Society of Economic Geologists. Additionally, he is a member of the European Association of Geochemistry and the Australian Institute of Geoscientists[3]. He holds a Life Membership, serves on the Council, and is the Membership Secretary of the Geological Society of Africa[4]. He is also a member of the Nigerian Mining and Geoscientists Society[5]. Moreover, he is part of the African Minerals and Energy Resources Classification and Management System (AMREC) working group and co-authored the Pan African Resource Reporting Code (PARC) 2023.
