Shuchen Ye (born August 1st, 2005), as known as Skyler Ye, is an entrepreneur. He is known for his contribution to Glebe Collegiate Institute's Students Council and his company LaunchCa..[1][2]
Early Life
editChildhood and Immigrating to Canada
editShuchen Ye was born in Tianjin, China back in August, 2005. He moved with his family to Canada as a student in 2019 and start his study at Ottawa's Glebe Collegiate Institute. In his first year of high school, he joined the Glebe Students Council as one of the Grade 9 Representative and later being elected as the Glebe Students' Council's Co-Chair in 2021 and acting as the Co-Chair in year 2022. [3] At the same year, he became a permanent resident of Canada.
Education
editShuchen Ye studied at the Affiliated Middle School of Peking University (as known as 北大附中天津东丽湖学校) in Tianjin Dongli District (currently know as Tianjin DongLi Future Middle School) during 2017-2019. In 2019, he and his family move to Canada and study at Glebe Collegiate Institute since 2019 and graduate in June, 2023. He later accept the offer at Carleton University in Ottawa, ON and is currently studying there for Aerospace Engineering with major in Aerodynamic, Propulsion and Vehicle Performance.[4]

editShuchen Ye (Skyler) won the students election back in 2021, and serving as a President at Glebe Collegiate Institute's Students Council during the year of 2022. He then join the school council (parent council) as a Students Representative at Glebe Collegiate Institute, then joined to division of Glebe Collegiate Institute 100th Anniversary Celebration Committee as all around member to build connection between students and the committee. Later in 2022, Shuchen Ye was also been elected as the Co-Chair of OCDSB Student Presidents' Council and host meetings and school board wide events.
Virtual Students Assembly
editBack in 2022, during the Shuchen Ye's presidency at Glebe Collegiate Institute's Student Council, pandemic and school lockdown was in affect. Shuchen Ye and the Glebe Students Council started the Glebe Students Council YouTube Account, published a new format of hosting students assemblies online (The format of the assembly is pre-recorded and live-stream later on YouTube) at Glebe Collegiate Institute. In 2021, Shuchen Ye hosted Glebe Collegiate Institute 2021-2022 Virtual Club Fair[5], it introduced clubs like Glebe Athletic Council, Glebe Black Students Association, Glebe Chess Club and more. In 2022, Shuchen Ye also hosted Glebe Students Council March Assembly[6] and the Glebe Students Council 2022 Election online.

Glebe Collegiate Institute 100th Anniversary Celebration
editIn 2022, Glebe Collegiate Institute celebrate its 100th Anniversary in October, 2024.[7] Shuchen Ye was acting as "all around" member at Glebe Collegiate Institute 100th Anniversary Committee[1], he organized Glebe Collegiate Institute Alumni Reunion Week's BBQ, and the Glebe Collegiate Institute 100th Anniversary Students Celebration Week including Decade Room, Students Council BBQ, Student Dance and Pancake Breakfast. He later receive the Principal Award for Students Leadership from Ontario Principal Council[8] and University of Toronto National Book Award[9]
LaunchCa Rocketry Club
editShuchen Ye founded LaunchCa[10] in Ontario back in 2022. LaunchCa is an organization that host model rocket launches and set local clubs to allow model rocketry hobbyists to build and launch model rocket together at the Canada's Capital Area.
National Association of Rocketry Club #959
editLater 2022, LaunchCa has became one of the official local club of National Association of Rocketry. (Club ID: #959)[11] and continue to host monthly model rocket launch events in Ottawa Area and bi-weekly meetings with its club member on Friday.
