The Diener School is an independent school for students with learning differences in Kindergarten through 8th grade.[1] The school was founded by Jillian Copeland in 2007, and originally housed on the second floor of a synagogue in Potomac, Maryland.[2] In 2024, the school purchased and renovated a site to establish a permanent location for its 80 students in Bethesda, Maryland.[2]
Founder Jillian Copeland, a former Montgomery County Public Schools teacher, created the school after struggling to find a program that worked well for her son with developmental disabilities.[2] The school's mission is to "provide a nurturing yet challenging environment for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade with learning differences that supports academic and social needs and inspires minds for a lifetime."[1]
