Alejo Nahuel Acosta (born 12 July 1998), known professionally as YSY A, is an Argentine rapper, songwriter and singer.[1]
Early life
editBorn in Villa Crespo, he was interested in music from a young age and was influenced by tango. He began competing in freestyle battles and this led him to create the largest rap competition in Argentina, El Quinto Escalon.[2]
Career
editAlthough he was already making songs, in January 2018 the start of the supergroup Modo Diablo was made official with the rappers Duki and Neo Pistea, which popularized the trap genre in Argentina thanks to their singles «Quavo» and «Trap N' Export», this also gave Ysy recognition to release his songs.[3]
On November 11 of that same year, he released his debut studio album, Antezana 247, which was well received by the public and critics. On November 11, 2019, he released his second studio album, Hecho a Mano.[4]
In 2020, he released a series of singles under the name #YSYA2020, of which «Silbando» and «Un Flow de Infarto» with Bizarrap, garnered millions of views on YouTube, and he released his first EP, which was recorded in the Argentine city of Tigre, and would be called Mordiendo El Bozal.[5][6]
On November 11, 2021, he released his third studio album, Trap de Verdad, under his own record label, Sponsor Dios. This year he made YSY A: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 37 with Bizarrap. A year later, on the same date, he released his fourth studio album, YSYSMO, which became his most commercially successful album, having the biggest debut on the charts despite not having singles or collaborations.[7][8][9]
In 2023, exactly November 11, where he releases his albums, he would release El after del after, in which he would try very different genres than the usual ones in his career, trying Techno, EDM, Guaracha, and the rarest, Amapiano, among others. This album would represent a significant change in Alejo's career.[10]
