Yindii is a mobile application offering food services and aimed at raising attention towards food waste in the society and empowering people to fight fight against climate change. the app provides services covering mainly in three cities, Hong Kong, Thailand and Singapore. There are over 400,000 users in those cities. The app allows merchants to combine their unsold food or food that is about to expire in form of blind boxes and sell them at a discount price to users. It allows app users to order high-quality food at a very low price.
Yindii acts as a bridge between consumers and merchants, providing a platform for merchants to sell surplus food and for consumers to buy these food at a low price to reduce food wastage and promote a more sustainable society.
The slogan of Yindii is “Save food, Save Money, Save the Planet”.
Yindii has over 900 brand partners such as city'super and Pacific Coffee and has saved more than 300,000 meals while preventing 700,000 kg carbon emission.
History
edit[edit] Yindii was first established in September 2020 in Thailand by Sophie Boucher and Tanguy de La Rochefoucauld. The CEO of Yindii is Louis-Alban Batard-Dupre.
In December 2022, the company raised a total of approximately $ 180K in its seed round.
In 2023, Yindii acquired Hong Kong's Phenix on the List and expanded the app's operation to Hong Kong, the app started to operate in Hong Kong in March, 2023.
Campaigns
edit[edit] On June 5, 2024, Yindii united 200,000 Hongkongers (Hong Kong People) to fight against food waste and promote sustainability. Obviously, the campaign successfully raised people's awareness towards eco-friendliness.
Partnerships
edit[edit] Yindii is now having partnerships with more than 900 chained-brand, supermarkets, bakeries and even well-known hotels including city'super, pret, Rosewood Hong Kong. The partnership with different merchants help save much food and reduce wastage.
Partnership with pret: Pret a Manger pays attention to sustainability and with the partnership, Pret sold more than 24000 meals on Yindii and won back HKD$1,100,000 with 60% of CO2 offset, 76% of food is also saved(October, 2024) which contributed to a more sustainable and greener future,
Partnership with city'super: Citysuper is always committed to reducing food waste and contributing to higher level of sustainability. The partnership allows it to rescue more than 20,000 bags and save 72% of food(October, 2024). It helps citysuper to become a more environmentally responsible society.
Use
edit[edit] Yindii has the capacity to notify users to restaurants nearby that have extra food available every day, these food includes bread and pastries. The app will send notification to users when the price begins to decline, for the prices in the "Last Chance" column, they are typically 50% less than the initial price. By filtering the desired price and food type, users can choose the food they want easily. After selecting the preferred food, users can pay via the Yindii app and pick the food up during pick-up time.
