This article was rejected at AFC, however I am publishing it using my own editorial discretion. Any editor is free to nominate it for deletion if they feel it is not sufficiently notable. However, I would note that it was rejected for being an "advert" and "not an encyclopedia article", with a reviewer stating "it is very exceptional that we consider an individual academic department notable". I find these arguments hard to believe, considering (1) there is an entire category with dozens of other departments at the University of Manchester alone with articles, and (2) this does establish its notability clearly, and better than most of the other existing articles, using independent published book sources.
