History

edit

In October 2012 Tullett signed to Equal Vision Records.[1] In the same month, Tullett's remix of Bon Iver's "Hinnom, TX" was released on Spotify.[2] He then released an EP entitled Trawl through MTV Hype Music.[3] Equal Vision Records followed this by digitally re-releasing a remastered version of the previously self-released Never Joy in December 2012.[4] Another single, "Oxblood", was released on Equal Vision Records in April 2013.[5]

Tullett began collaborating with Welsh Indie-Folk artist Novo Amor with their first collaborative single "Faux", which was released 23 June 2014 on Dumont Dumont & Brilliance Records.[6]

"Alps", Tullett's second collaborative single with Novo Amor, was released 15 April 2016.[7]

Heiress, Tullett and Novo Amor's full collaborative album, was released 10 November 2017 on All Points.[8]

Tullett continues to collaborate with Novo Amor, co-writing 2018's Birthplace,[9][10] 2020's Cannot Be, Whatsoever,[11] and 2024's newly released Collapse List.[12] His contribution was documented in the album documentary "Please Don't Stand Up When Room Is In Motion".[13] Tullett was also part of the Novo Amor live band for 7 years.[14]

In August 2018, Tullett formed collaborative project Lissom with French pianist Julien Marchal.[15][16] The duo has since released two records, 2018's Lissom,[17] and 2022's Eclipses (Naïve Records).[18]

Since 2019, Tullett has been working with Jemima Coulter on their collaborative project Hailaker. Their first self-titled record was released in April 2019.[19] A second record, Holding, followed in April 2020.[20][21] "Wavepool", a collaborative single featuring S. Carey of Bon Iver was released in May 2021.[22]

In 2020, Tullett formed Tolari, an instrumental electronic project with longtime friend Auryn Tate (Shinamo Moki). The pair released their debut album Leylines in 2022 (Nettwerk).[23]

In June 2022, Tullett began releasing solo material again, under his new artist moniker Lowswimmer. Twinned albums Glasshouse 1 + 2 were released in June and July respectively.[24][25] Red-Eye Effect, Tullett's third record as Lowswimmer, was released May 19th 2023.

On 29 September 2023, Tullett released Lack Thereof, a simple and stripped back record, as Ed Tullett / Lowswimmer. Stating that he felt detached from anything pre-2017 and wanted something new in the Ed Tullett space.[26]

On 24 April 2024, Tullett and Jemima Coulter announced their new Hailaker album Serenity Now would be released on 26 June 2024.[27]

Personal Life

edit

On 24 January 2024, Tullett announced that he would stop touring with the Novo Amor live band after 7 years, his last show being in the London Roundhouse on 12 April 2024.[28] In his announcement, Tullett explained that touring had become too taxing on his mental health, with the negative aspects outweighing the positive moments. He sees this as a break, allowing him to focus more time on his other projects, and mentioned that he will still be writing music with Novo Amor. Tullett also mentioned that he might return for guest appearances or other purposes.[29]
