Description"Old" Brooke Army Medical Center building.jpg
English: San Antonio Brooke Army Hospital/Medical Center, at right, was the center of medical research and training from 1948-1996. The red-roofed seventh-floor apartment (8 beds and a private sundeck) was used by Lyndon Johnson during his presidency and by seriously injured Army POWs returning from Vietnam. The world-class burn center cared for those injured during the ill-fated 1980 attempt to rescue U.S. hostages in Iran. Today the "old" BAMC is home to United States Army South and a number of smaller units.
