English: The world famous precious bamboo species. Native to China. Origin of name: Bamboo poles appear to be cylindrical like ordinary bamboos, but they are square to the touch. There is a circle of short thorns on the node, which should be aerial roots according to the 《中国植物志》(FRPS), Vol. 9(1) (1996), (http://www.iplant.cn/info/Chimonobambusa%20quadrangularis?t=z). The lateral branches on nodes are often 3 or 2, and they are often zigzag. Photo taken at Xitou Nature Education Park, Nantou County, Taiwan, 2022/01/12.
