Description
English: Palazzo dei Dieci Savi in Venice - The Lion of St Mark (in moléca) on the facade. The lion is crouched and positioned frontally with the wings spread like a fan, assuming a crab-like appearance with open claws (and in Venetian moléca is the name of the small crabs in the moulting period). It is a version widely used on small spaces, due to its simplicity and graphic compactness, especially on coins, seals, coats of arms and bas-reliefs.
