English: Seen here at Vlorë a pleasant coastal town which is the most southerly point on the Albanian rail network. This view taken on 3 October 2013 shows T669.1041 on two extremely old Italian coaches. The train arrived in soon after 12:00 on the once a day service from Rrogozhinë which connects off again a daily train from Tiranë to Librazhd. Rather than just propelling the stock out running round and pushing it back into the platform, a complex manoeuvre took place swapping one coach over with one of four in the adjacent platform.
Once all this was completed the crew set about re-watering the engine using a very primitive system of a raised tank and hosepipe. The same loco formed the 05:00 Vlorë to Rrogozhinë the next day.
Note the length of the platform which extended further behind the camera, probably to accommodate a train of 15 or 16 coaches. This would probably have been necessary in communist days when rail travel was in much higher demand. The station building again serves as a reminder that passenger traffic was much healthier.
