Summary

Description
English: 1618 West Devon Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. Architect: Henry Ross. It was built in 1912 and opened as the New Devon Theater, which had 556 seats and operated until approximately 1917. It became William J. Hughey Motor Company, a Ford dealership, in 1922; an American Legion hall in 1936. It briefly housed the Rogers Park chapter of America First in 1941, and then was a meeting hall for the 50th Ward Republican Party in the 1940s. The building reopened as Devon-Clark Radio in 1952, which became Devon-Clark Television in 1954; the store sold Westinghouse electronics. It became the headquarters of the Assyrian American Association of Chicago in 1963. The building has a glazed white block façade with green glazed brick trim, a design common to movie theaters of the early 20th century. The façade has a large arch with a bust of a woman's face at top.
