Description18 June 1815 – Waterloo – Saint Joseph's Church.jpg
English: To visitors, Saint Joseph's church is now principally known as a shrine for the Twenty Seven Commemorative Tablets dedicated to British and Dutch victims of Napoleone Buonaparte.
Saint Joseph's was initially built in 1687-1690 as "Royal Chapel" (royal, in honour of King Charles II of Spain), modified and expanded a few times over the centuries, one last time in 1855-1858 : on that occasion, all the commemorative tablets have been moved into the ailes, newly added to the nave.
Location : Place Albert Ier, Waterloo, off Chaussée de Bruxelles.
The headquarters of Arthur Wellesley during the Battle of Waterloo, now a Museum dedicated to the British, Prussian and Dutch armies, stands across the street : ►(File:18_June_1815_–_Victory_at_Waterloo_–_Duke_of_Wellington's_Headquarter.jpg). Coordinates of the porch : (50.71753, 4.39752). Bibliography : Vander Cruysen, Yves : Waterloo. 70000 ans d'histoires, 2017, Trois siècles d'histoires pour la chapelle royale, 25-30.
