Summary

Description

Bold as Brass Yellow. The Leyland P76 was built from 1973-75, it was a large car that was produced by Leyland Australia, competition for the other large Australian produced cars, the Ford Falcon, Holden Kingswood and Chrysler Valiant. Many of the cars design features were miles ahead of its time, but due to its controversial look, strikes and the world wide oil crisis, the P76 was in trouble before it even hit the showroom floors. Leyland and its associates closed down in 1975. The P76 had a wedge shape, with a massive boot and plenty of room inside. A 2 door Coupe version was developed, the Force 7, but by the time it was ready for production, Leyland Australia had closed down. 3 models were planned; the base model 6 cyl Force Coupe, the V8 Force 7V (similar spec to the P76 Super) and top of the line was the Tour de Force. Only 10 pre production coupes survived, about 46 were crushed, all surviving cars were the Force 7Vs, 3 Orange, 2 Yellow, 2 Green, 1 White, the only Brown car was retained by Leyland Australia and a Blue car went Leyland England.

Engines; 2623cc 6 cyl from the Austin Kimberley and Tasman, or 4416 alloy V8, a derivitive of the ex Buick Rover V8
