English: The Lava Fire started on July 23, and is currently around 8,100 acres (3,300 ha). The fire was ignited by lightning and detected on July 23. This fire is about 20 percent contained. It is approximately 15 miles (24 km) northeast of Christmas Valley and Ft. Rock, Oregon: Latitude (43.4892) Longitude (-120.7572). The fire is burning vegetation inside of a lava flow, which is located within a Wilderness Study Area (WSA). Smoke may be visible for several weeks if weather remains hot and dry.
