Summary

Description
English: The corner of 220th Trail and 45th Avenue in Amana, Iowa in the National Historic Landmark Amana Colonies. This is the main intersection in town. The town is sometimes called "Main Amana" to distinguish it when discussing the other hamlets nearby: East Amana, High Amana, Middle Amana, etc. The street sign to the left interested me - why in a town of 10 streets by 5 streets did they need a "220th Trail"? Answers from locals were odd - "Didn't everybody do it this way?" but also "They put this in after 9-11 so that emergency vehicles would know where to go if you called in."

This is an image of a place or building that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places in the United States of America. Its reference number is 66000336.
