An aerial view of Highway 409 at its interchange with Highway 427 shortly after completion in 1979. For over a decade, traffic from southbound 427 was required to wait at a light to access eastbound 409. This Jersey Jughandle interchange was finally replaced by a grade-separated flyover in 1992.
