English: On August 19th, 4th year of Keio (1868), Takeaki Enomoto led the former Tokugawa shogunate fleet consisting of eight ships: Kaiyo Maru, Kaiten Maru, Banryu Maru, Chiyoda Maru (Chiyodagata), Shinsoku Maru, Mikaho Maru, Kanrin Maru, and Chogei Maru. They escaped from Edo. His fleet of eight ships set sail from Shinagawa, bound for the north. The drawing was made by Masanoshin Kosugi (1843-1909), first officer of the steamship Kaiyo Maru where he served as chief engineer.
