The individual views of the lithograph as follows: A view of the seraglio and tomb of Ali Pasha with a small mosque by the low wall, another building to the right with Albanian men watching grooms holding horses, two groups of people beyond.[1]

Ali Pasha of Tepelena or of Yannina (Janina, Ioannina), surnamed Aslan, "the Lion", or the "Lion of Yannina" (1740-1822), was a Muslim Albanian ruler who served as an Ottoman pasha of the western part of Rumelia, the Ottoman Empire's European territory, which was referred to as the Pashalik of Yanina. At this time (1855) Janina was the capital of an administrative division of the Ottoman Empire. In 1913 it became part of Greece. In the print, on the right, a few guards sit outside Ali Pasha's seraglio in their distinctive costumes. Their horses are shown in the center. The family tomb of Ali Pasha where Ali Pasha's decapitated body (1822) and those of his spouses (Um Gulsum Hanum, 1809) were buried is seen on the left, opposite the seraglio.[2]
