Il se noya accidentellement dans le Nil et Hadrien, inconsolable, le héroïsa et en fit un demi-dieu. Philhellène, l'empereur fit exécuter cette statue et la déposa au sanctuaire de Delphes où elle fut découverte en 1894. Musée archéologique de Delphes, Grèce.
