Original file (1,428 × 1,071 pixels, file size: 595 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

Summary

Description The 11th day of Armenian presidential election protests. At 7:30 am, the peaceful "camp-in" protest at Liberty Square in Yerevan was violently ended by Armenian special forces which used truncheons and electric shock devices to disperse the crowd of around 1,000.

In this picture taken around noon, government employees use large water tankers to clean the area of debris and blood, while riot police and the army have cordoned off Liberty Square. (Visible are army transport vehicles at the bottom left, and riot police marching in the center right; note that this is before the "state of emergency" was declared by the government at 10 pm.)
