Summary

Description
English: Proof that the static resistance of a power source (RS) such as a battery is negative, and is equal to the negative of the static resistance of the attached load (RL). From Kirchoff's voltage law the voltage drops across the two components sum to zero. Since the same current (I) passes through them, the resistances must be equal and opposite. The same proof applies to AC sources: ZS() = ZL() so the reactance of the source is equal to the complex conjugate of the reactance of the load XS = -XL.
