Description See Brown Dog affair. Reconstruction of a 1903 demonstration by William Bayliss, a physiologist at University College London, during which anti-vivisectionists said a dog was vivisected without anaesthetic. Bayliss sued for libel, successfully, and the lecture was reconstructed for the court during the November 1903 trial in London. It shows William Bayliss (standing at the front, with an anaesthetized dog), and to his right Ernest Starling, Henry Dale, and the laboratory technician, Charles Scuttle.
