Summary

Description
English: The bell tower of Thanjavur is located close to the Royal Maratha Palace of Thanjavur which was the residence of the Thanjavur Maratha Nayaks in the 16-18th Century. It is a 7 story tower. One has to climb a very narrow stair with room for only one thin-built person to go up and down the tower for maintenance. The ground of the tower is equipped with 4 feet shallow water holding network which is supposed to reflect and spread the sound of the bell to a larger periphery.
