Berney Arms is located in Halvergate Marshes between Reedham and Great Yarmouth, and located roughly 2 miles from the nearest road is only accessible by foot. Nearby are the Berney Arms pub and windmill which sit alongside the River Yare. Berney Arms station takes its name from Thomas Berney, who owned the land through which the railway line passes here. He sold the land to the Yarmouth and Norwich Railway on the condition that a station and train service be provided. The station and train service survive today, and could not be a greater contrast from the other end of the Greater Anglia network at London Liverpool St. A good history of the station can be found at www.berneyarms.co.uk/html/berneyarms/railway/berney_railw...
