Summary

Description

Microscopic image showing the hyphae and conidiophores of the mycelial form of Blastomyces dermatitidis. Original caption from CDC:

Under a magnification of 800X, this photomicrograph revealed ultrastructural morphology exhibited by the fungal organism, Blastomyces dermatitidis. In this view you are able to see numbers of conidiophores. Note how each conidiophore sprouted directly from the filamentous hyphae in a perpendicular arrangement, and that each was topped by a spherical-shaped conidium.
