English: Watercolour painting by an unknown Burmese artist depicting 19th century Burmese life. Text: "YEK-CAN YEK. Weaving." This picture depicts the weaving of silk on a loom to make a "Putsoh" or body-cloth. The person admiring the weaver is wearing one such Putsoh. "The patterns are worked in by small shuttles passed from hand to hand. Sometimes as many as 100 shuttles are used in one piece of cloth."- from the description at [1] |
