Summary
| Description |
English: Preserved Ruston & Hornsby Class '07' 275 hp 0-6-0 No.D2996 (later 07 012) in BR green livery on the Barrow Hill Springwell Branch shuttle, 27 August 2022. The '07's were built specially for use in Southampton Docks and were not painted in the standard Brunswick Green BR used for locomotives but SR Coaching Stock Green because the Class was expected to haul boat trains into the docks and would thus match the coaches. More-over, the standard BR locomotive 'lion & wheel' emblem was not used but the coaching stock emblem, although the standard emblem would not have fitted on the cab side in any case. The noise made by the Paxman 6RPHL engine sounds as if it could be generating about 2,750 hp not 275hp! |
