DescriptionCa dZan - John Ringling Mansion from East 2.jpg
John Ringling's winter house in Sarasota, Florida, was designed and built in 1924-1926. At the time, John Ringling, a circus entrepreneur who was in many other businesses, was one of the richest men in the U.S. Ca d'Zan means "House of John" in the dialect of Venice, Italy. John and Mable Ringling went to Europe many times, looking for acts for the circus and works of art for their collection. Venice was their favorite place, and Venetian architecture provided the inspiration for much of this house. The house is on Sarasota Bay, and was largely restored to its original interior around 2004-2006.
